High Carbon Low Sulfur Graphitized Petroleum Coke

High Carbon Low Sulfur Graphitized Petroleum Coke

Graphitized Petroleum Coke is typically black in color and has a metallic luster. It has high thermal and electrical conductivity, low thermal expansion, and excellent chemical stability. Its high carbon content and low impurity levels make it an ideal raw material for the production of high-quality carbon products, such as electrodes for electric arc furnaces and lithium-ion batteries.

Description

High Carbon Low Sulfur Graphitized Petroleum Coke (GPC) is a carbonaceous material derived from petroleum oil refinery coker units or other cracking processes. It has a high carbon content of over 98% and low sulfur content, typically less than 0.05%.

The GPC is processed to remove impurities and then heated to high temperatures (above 2,800°C) in a graphitization furnace, which transforms the amorphous carbon structure into a crystalline structure. This process increases the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of the material, making it useful for a variety of applications such as the production of steel and aluminum, as well as in the production of electrodes for electric arc furnaces.

Graphitized Petroleum Coke is also used as a raw material in the production of electrodes for Lithium-ion batteries, which are used in various applications such as electric vehicles, mobile phones, laptops, and many other electronic devices. Its high carbon content and low sulfur content make it an ideal choice for this application, as it can improve the overall performance and lifespan of the battery.
